There are so many great destinations for day trips all around the New York Tri-State area. There are many places to visit for a day or for the weekend. Whatever it is that you all looking to do, you will be able to find it in the Tri-State area.
Amusement Parks
In the Tri-State area there is a plethora of Amusement Parks. There is Quassy Amusement Park in Connecticut, which one of the oldest amusement parks in the area. Attractions include over twenty rides plus water activities on a beach off of Lake Quassapaug. Right nearby there is many Stamford Hotels for you to stay overnight. Then there are the Famous Coney Island rides,
now known as Luna Park right in Brooklyn. The famous Cyclone wooden roller coaster is located there. This ride has been a thriller for so many years now making it a landmark. Aside for all the rides and arcades, you can also enjoy a walk along the boardwalk as well. And of course there is Six Flags Great Adventure in southern New Jersey. This is a great theme park the whole family can enjoy for a day.
Museums
There is no shortage of museums either in the area. One of my favorites is Liberty Science Center in Elizabeth, NJ. It’s easily accessible from many locations and there is so much to do there. They have the humongous IMAX dome theater like no other, which is worth the trip alone. Plus they have so many hands on activities, a touch tunnel, a working construction site and so much more. Then of course there are all the great museums in New York City. There are the famous ones such as The Museum of Natural History and the Metropolitan Museum of Art then there is the Madame Tussauds wax museum for a more off-beat museum. In Connecticut as well you will find great museums as well, the Connecticut Science Center, the Discovery Museum and another favorite of mine the Mark Twain House.
Outdoor fun
Whatever season it is that you are looking for some fun in the Tristate area; you will find plenty of options. During the winter months you will find many great locations for serious skiing. Starting off in Connecticut there is Woodbury Ski Area and Mohawk Mountain Ski Area. Then there is Campgaw and Mountain Creek in New Jersey. No need to travel across the country for skiing, we have got terrific trails right here. During the Summer season take advantage of all the beaches in the year. The Jersey Shore has become quite popular since the reality show took its name. The there is the Hamptons which the rich and famous flock to each summer. There are so many fantastic beaches throughout the area. That is not all the Tri-state area has so many parks with great hiking and biking trails, water sports abound and so much more. Count on the Tristate area for all the fun and excitement that you are looking for.
